Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s star man Virat Kohli continues to register new records as he became the first player in Indian Premier League history to smash 1000 boundaries.

Kohli, who already is IPL’s all-time highest run-getter and also the first player to cross 8,000 runs in the competition, needed two boundaries to reach the landmark ahead of Bengaluru’s match against Delhi Capitals at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Thursday.

The 36-year-old could not play a big knock on the night but managed to hit two sixes and a four for his 14-ball 22 which was enough to take him past the 1000-boundary mark. He has now taken his boundary tally to 1001, courtesy of 280 sixes and 721 fours.

Only Shikhar Dhawan, a former India opener, has ever reached 900. The left-hander’s 768 fours and 152 sixes have his boundary count at 920.
