BNP leader Hafiz gets bail

A Dhaka court has granted bail to BNP Vice-Chairman Major (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed in a case filed under the Digital Security Act.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Atiqul Islam passed the order today upon a bond Tk 10,000.

The court also set November 11 for the next hearing in the case, rejecting a 10-day remand plea filed by the sub-inspector of Pallabi Police Station and also the investigation officer (IO) of the case, Nure Alam.

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) picked up Major Hafiz from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Saturday evening after he arrived here from Singapore, in connection with a case filed under the Digital Security Act.

Later, the elite force members handed him over to Pallabi Police Station
