The police have claimed that Tuhin Miah, a five-year-old boy who was found hanging from a tree in Sunamganj with brutal marks of injury early Monday, was killed by his family members.

Police today came up with the claim after quizzing the boy’s father Abdul Baser, his uncle, aunty and a cousin.

Sunamganj Police Superintendent Md Mizanur Rahman said: “Family members have killed the boy. We have come to know about many things over the murder but will not release the detailed information for the sake of investigation.”

“Tuhin’s father took him out of the room and later handed him over to his uncles,” he added.

He further said the members of the family are accused in different cases and had many rivals in the village. “Tuhin might have been murdered in an attempt to frame their rivals.”

Meanwhile, a trial court has placed three persons, including Tuhin’s father Abdul Baser, on a three-day remand each over the murder.

The other two are–Tuhin’s uncle Mosabbir and one Jamser Ali.

Tuhin’s mother Monira Begum filed a murder case with Dirai Police Station accusing 10 people. Of them, five have been shown arrested.

Tuhin Mia, 5, was found dead early Sunday.

According to the locals, Tuhin was sleeping along with other family members on Sunday night. Suddenly around midnight, family members noticed that the doors of their room were open and the child was missing.

At one stage of the search, the family members found Tuhin’s body hanging from a tree. His both ears and sex organ were severed and two knives were also found twisted inside the belly of the kid.

Being informed, police rushed in and recovered the body, said Razanagar Union Parishad member Shahjahan Mia.
