Abhishek Bachchan’s first anniversary dinner date with Aishwarya Rai was a ‘disaster’

Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai have been the benchmark couple for millennials. The duo began their journey as friends in Dhai Akshar Prem Ke, followed by Kuch Na Kaho. But it was much later, on the sets of Umrao Jaan that sparks flew between the two. Together, they went on to deliver two back-to-back hits with Dhoom 2 and Guru. While their on-screen jodi was a hit, rumours of the duo tying the knot went viral. In April 2007, the couple tied the knot at the Bachchan bungalow with just family and a few friends in attendance.

It’s been over a decade, and AbhiAsh only make us go aww. For the last 13 years, Aishwarya has been observing the Karwa Chauth fast and ensures to make it back home in time post-work to spend time with her husband. But the celebrations were forced to be a bit underwhelming this year due to the pandemic.

An old interview of Abhishek has now been going viral where the actor went on to talk about his first wedding anniversary that was a complete disaster.

Talking to Vogue in 2016, Abhishek had said, “It was a disaster. So this is for men everywhere—don’t believe that bit about a candlelight dinner on the beach being the most romantic thing in the world. I tried that for our anniversary (in 2009) in the Maldives, and it was a disaster. First of all, the wind keeps putting the candle out. Second, there’s sand in your food so it tastes like crap. I’m here to tell you guys, just don’t do it.”
