The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) can summon to any individual, asking him or her to appear in person to its office to question regarding corruption allegations, said the High Court (HC) in a observation on Thursday.

“……therefore, the ACC acted within the provision of law for issuance of the impugned notice for the interest of justice and for the transparency to pursue any person if there is any allegation of corruption or earning property from any unknown source of income,” the HC said.

The HC bench comprising Justice Md Moinul Islam Chowdhury and Justice AKM Zahirul Huq made the observation in the full text of its order on a writ petition filed by Deputy Attorney General Jannatul Ferdousi Rupa challenging the legality of a notice issued by the ACC.

The ACC requested Jannatul Ferdousi Rupa to appear before its office for placing her statement on the allegations against her of amassing illegal wealth taking bribes from GK Shamim through abuse of power.

The HC bench on December 3 upheld the ACC notice after summerily rejecting the writ petition.

The High Court also ordered DAG Rupa to appear before the ACC headquarters in Dhaka on or before January 27 to place her statement.

The full text of the rejection order was released on Thursday after the judges of the HC bench signed it.
