The upcoming sequel in the Spider-Man franchise is turning out to be a massive star-studded affair. The movie has already become one of the most awaited of all time and with this latest report, the excitement and hype around it has been skyrocketed.
It was earlier rumoured that not just Tom Holland, the untitled Spider-Man 3 will also feature Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield as Spider-Men. Later, it was more or less confirmed that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 star Jamie Foxx will be reprising his role as supervillain Electro. Another report had confirmed the presence of Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange.
Now, a new report in The Hollywood Reporter has claimed that Afred Molina is making a comeback to the Spider-Verse as Doctor Octopus. Molina played brilliant scientist Dr Otto Octavius who turns into supervillain Doctor Octopus.
He played the main antagonist in the 2004 film Spider-Man 2, which is often considered as not only the best Spider-Man film but also one of the best superhero films of all time.
The report of Alfred reprising his role as Doc Ock first started doing the rounds last month when he was rumoured to be spotted on the sets of the upcoming Spider-man film.
While the presence of Doctor Strange, Electro and Doctor Octopus is more or less confirmed, we are yet to get a confirmation on the Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man from the original Spider-Man trilogy helmed by Sam Raimi and Andre Garfield’s Amazing Spider-Man from the two films he starred in almost a decade ago.
It will be interesting to see the multiverse collide in the upcoming Spider-Man sequel that is bound to break the box office upon its release.
