The shoot for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi has finally finished. The film was stranded for a long time, owing to both lead heroine Ala Bhatt and director Bhansali contracting the dreaded COVID-19. However, following their recovery, a small part, including a song that remained has now been completed.

As per reports, the shoot has been concluded in Mumbai’s Film City (Goregaon), after assembling every resource back together for Gangubai Kathiawadi. For the unversed Gangubai Kathiawadi is an upcoming biographical crime drama starring Alia Bhatt, along with Vijay Raaz, Indira Tiwari and Seema Pahwa in the main roles. Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi feature in extended cameo appearances in the film.

The film is loosely based on a true story, on the book Mafia Queens of Mumbai written by S. Hussain Zaidi and follows the life of Ganga who marks her own territory and becomes Gangubai – a madame in the red light area of Kamathipura.

The actress is also prepping for her upcoming film Darlings that is being made under her own production house Eternal Sunshine Productions. She had recently shared an image on her Instagram story, of what looks like the script of her new film. Besides Darlings and Gangubai Kathiawadi, Alia Bhatt has an impressive line-up of films that include Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra, co-starring her boyfriend, actor Ranbir Kapoor and SS Rajamouli’s RRR.

Meanwhile, according to a report by ETimes, turns out Bhansali will not be resting much after finishing the Alia Bhatt-starrer as he will commence the shooting for his upcoming web series Heera Mandi on the same floor where Gangubai Kathiawadi set will be dismantled.

The report adds that the new set will be quickly put up with minor modifications done to a few things. The Vibhu Puri-directorial that is being produced by SLB will start rolling once everything is ready as fast as the set requirements are concerned.
