Bangabandhu’s statue to be built in Ankara, Kamal Ataturk’s in Dhaka

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has given his consent to visit Bangladesh in March next year to join the birth centenary celebration of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Information Minister Hasan Mahmud revealed the matter following a meeting with Turkish Ambassador in Dhaka at his secretariat office in the capital. At the same time, the Information Minister said as part of friendly relations between Bangladesh and Turkey, a statue of Bangabandhu will be built in Turkey’s capital Ankara, while another statue of the Father of Nation of Turkey Mustafa Kamal Pasha will be built in Dhaka. The Turkish government will built the statues in both countries and bear the construction costs. On September 14, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina virtually inaugurated the newly-constructed Bangladesh Chancery Complex in Ankara, Turkey. Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen was present there with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu at the inaugural ceremony. Momen also met with Turkey’s President Erdogan on that visit. Earlier, the Turkish president gladly accepted Bangladesh prime minister’s invitation to visit Bangladesh. |
