Bangladesh cricketers declare boycott plan

Bangladesh’s cricket players, including Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim, have declared that they had gone on a strike and will boycott all cricket-related activities for the foreseeable future until their demands for the improvement of cricket in the country are met.

The cricketers gathered in front of BCB Academy ground in the capital’s Mirpur this afternoon and placed an 11-point demands, including a reversal of the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s decision last month to abandon the Bangladesh Premier League’s franchise-based model.

Addressing the press, they said they will continue their strike until the demands are met, casting an immediate impact on the National Cricket League, currently in progress, the training camp for next month’s tour of India, and possibly the tour itself.

Those present at the press conference, at the National Cricket Academy in Dhaka, included Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah.
