After coming up with three straight comprehensive performances that took Bangladesh to the Super Six as group-winners, the young tigresses faltered against South Africa losing by five wickets in their first match of the second round at Potchefstroom on Saturday.

Opting to bat first, Bangladesh delivered an underwhelming effort with the bat that saw them manage a meagre 106-6 where Sumaiya Akter top-scored with a 28-ball 24.

South Africa off-spinner Keyla Reyneke did the damage as she picked up four wickets for 19 runs to restrict Bangladesh

.In reply, a 38-ball 37 from Madison Landsman and Karabo Meso’s unbeaten 32 runs off 30 deliveries ensured South Africa’s victory as they scored 108 for five with seven balls to spare.

Bangladesh leg-spinner Rabeya Khatun made things interesting as she foxed three batters finishing with figures of three for 18 runs but it wasn’t enough for the Tigresses who will take on UAE in their second and final Super Six match on January 25.
