BGMEA building set to be demolished Today

Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) will start demolishing the 16-storey Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) complex in capital’s Hatirjheel on Wednesday.
Iftekhar Hossain, public relations officer (PRO) of the housing and public works ministry, confirmed the matter on Tuesday.
Housing and public works minister SM Rezaul Karim will inaugurate the activities of the demolishment of the BGMEA building at 10:00 tomorrow.
In 2011, the High Court ordered demolition of the 16-storey building as it was constructed in defiance of relevant laws, calling it a ‘cancer’ in the lake
