Bollywood actress Bhumi Pednekar has condemned the shocking incidents of sexual harassment that women have suffered while undergoing treatment at COVID-19 quarantine centres in India. Deeply saddened and disturbed by the news of crime against women who were recovering from the death-dealing disease at COVID-19 facilities across India, the Bollywood actress expressed deep shock and outrage over the appalling incidents on Saturday.

Concerned about the sudden rise in crime against women amid the ongoing coronavirus crisis, Bhumi took to social media to strongly react to the disturbing news which claimed that several Indian women have been sexually assaulted even in COVID-19 isolation facilities. Taking to Instagram, the Pati Patni Aur Woh (2019) actress reacted to a post shared by an online news portal.

“Sick and disgusting. Says a lot about the patriarchy and idea of entitlement in our society,” Bhumi wrote while reacting to the news report shared on Instagram Stories. Talking about crime against women, a government doctor working at a reputed hospital in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra was arrested after he allegedly tried to rape a 25-year-old woman who was recovering from novel coronavirus in an isolation ward. In the national capital, a 14-year-old was sexually harassed at a COVID-19 isolation facility.
