Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has said the BNP leaders from top to bottom should resign from their posts for failing in movements and polls.

“BNP workers become inactive due to extreme failure of their party leaders. Sometimes they announce for waging movement after Eid, sometimes they call for movement after SSC examination or rainy season,” he said.

He added: “Many Eids, examinations and rainy seasons have passed, but the people never witnessed any movement of BNP”.

Quader was addressing a virtual press conference on contemporary issues from his official residence on the parliament premises in Dhaka on Thursday.

He said BNP’s movement is now confined to press briefing and Facebook status. BNP is the most unsuccessful opposition party in the country’s political history.

“So, not the government rather the BNP leaders from top to bottom should resign for their failures,” he added.

About BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s remarks that the government has no right to stay in power, the AL general secretary said after failing in movement and elections, BNP is now acting like a disorientated traveler who has lost his ways.

They could not wage any kind of movement for releasing their party chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and even they failed to mount any pressure for her release, he added.

The minister said BNP is now out to hatch conspiracy aboard against the government. But there will be no benefit in hatching plots at home and aboard as the government remains alert about their intrigues, he said.
