Speedboat Owners Association has suspended operation of speedboats on Bhola-Barishal route for three days since last evening (November 2, 2022), ahead of BNP’s divisional rally slated for Saturday (November 5).

Commuters have been sufferings immensely due to the suspension of speedboats operations which will continue till Saturday.

Manjurul Alam, a speedboat owner of Bhola, said they have enforced a three-day strike but he however did not say the reason.

The UNB correspondent found a number of passengers waiting at Bheduria ghat in Bhola for speedboat.

Tatek Shah, in-charge of Barishal speedboat ghat, said speedboat movement was suspended from Bhola, not from Barishal.

Earlier, three-wheeler drivers in Barishal have called a strike on November 4 and 5 demanding the authorities concerned to allow their vehicles to operate on the highway.

The strike has coincided with the upcoming rally of the BNP while the bus owners in the district have announced a similar strike on the same dates.
