BNP to meet Yunus to demand clear election roadmap: Salahuddin

BNP will meet Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus to press for a clear and specific roadmap for the upcoming national election, said BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed.

The party has asked for a time slot for a meeting with the chief adviser in this regard.

“We will certainly want a specific roadmap for the upcoming national parliamentary election from the chief adviser before December,” he told reporters at the BNP Chairperson’s office in the capital’s Gulshan today.

“Since there’s been some confusion due to differing statements from various sides on different issues, we’ll urge him [the chief adviser] to clarify the matter,” he added.

Salahuddin said the chief adviser should formally present the election roadmap to the nation, following due procedures, to dispel uncertainty.

“So that the sense of uncertainty and instability among the people is removed, political stability is restored, and economic activities gain momentum,” said Salahuddin, adding, “Keeping these in mind, we would say that this is enough time.”

“Earlier, we discussed with the Election Commission, and they said they would complete all preparations by June. The chief adviser has also assured us that they are working to hold the election by December,” he added.
