BNP’s Chattogram city unit president Shahadat detained

Police detained BNP’s Chattogram metropolitan unit president Dr Shahadat Hossain after clashes the party’s activists on Monday afternoon.

His personal assistant Maruful Islam and BNP’s metropolitan unit member Mohammad Ali were also detained.

Police raided Shahadat-owned Treatment Hospital and nabbed him from there around 6pm, said metropolitan BNP’s Deputy Office Secretary Idris Ali.

BNP activists clashed with police in the afternoon over a rally of the metropolitan unit. Several motorcycles were also torched.

At least 20 people, including policemen, were injured in the clash. Police later detained 15 BNP activists.
