BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Tuesday said both the current mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh and former mayor Sayeed Khokon are looters and corrupt.
He made the comment at a press conference held at the party’s central office in Nayapaltan.
“Standing on the streets, both of them (Taposh and Khokon) are openly publicizing each other’s corruption and looting. However, it is clear that both of them are looters and corrupt,” said Rizvi.
Pointing at Anti-Corruption Commission, the BNP leader said, “What will ACC do now? Will it enjoy fun or take action? The ACC would not be able to take action because both of them are the relatives of powerful and top leader.”
He further said Sheikh Hasina’s ACC would not be able to take a single step against them (Taposh-Khokon). Sheikh Hasina has arranged the ACC to destroy BNP, he added.
Rizvi said, “Whatever allegations are being made by Obaidul Quader’s own younger brother Abdul Quader Mirza, no matter what the purpose behind it but many truths have come out through his statement. His younger brother has raised the question whether Obaidul Quader himself will win if the election is fair.”
The recent comments of three Awami League leaders (Taposh-Khokon-Quader Mirza) have proved once again that the top-to-bottom of the party have indulged in corruption, alleged Rizvi.  There is a quarrel going on among them as to who has surpassed whom in corruption, he continued.
After the so-called one-eleven, Bangladesh has lost its way and the people have lost democracy, human dignity and justice, said the BNP senior joint secretary general.
“It seems that the country is running under the rule of one lord but not the rule of law.”
