BTS, the best-known South Korean band with a growing fan base in India, popped up on a Central Board of Secondary Education exam paper (CBSE). In the English paper for CBSE Class 9 students in the 2021-2022 session, a question regarding the group was included. Students published photos of the paper on Twitter, revealing that the first question on the English paper, a comprehensive passage, was about BTS and its popularity.
A student shared the question paper and captioned it as, “Today was my English exam and I got comprehension on BTS.” “How did Korean pop music become a worldwide sensation,” a part of the question asked. BTS and other K-pop groups are made up of good-looking, attractive teenagers or 20-somethings, releasing appealing melodies alongside videos showing complex, cool, and sophisticated dance techniques, according to the paragraph.

“But while many Korean bands have become popular worldwide, BTS is the top K-pop phenomenon. Over the last decade, BTS has sold millions of albums and racked up billions of YouTube views and Spotify streams. In addition, they’ve become one of South Korea’s biggest exports- bringing the equivalent of billions of US dollars to the nation,” another part of the passage read.
