  • A case has been filed against Saif Ali Khan in a Jaunpur court
  • The actor received backlash after he stated, in an interview, that in his movie Adipurush, the “humane” side of Ravan will be projected
  • The plea has been filed under Section 156 (3) in the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate

Saif Ali Khan’s recent interview about his thoughts on Ravan’s character in the upcoming film Adipurush has landed the actor in legal trouble. Even though Saif issued a statement apologising for hurting people’s sentiments, a case has been filed against the actor in the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) in Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh.

Ever since the actor spoke about Adipurush and how the team will try to make the demon king Ravan look a bit “humane”, his statement did not sit well with netizens. Saif received backlash for his remark and many Twitter users began trending the hashtag ‘Boycott Adipurush.’ Recently, a civil court advocate, Himanshu Sharma, filed an application through advocate Upendra Vikram Singh under Section 156 (3).

According to the petition, the plaintiff has deep faith in ‘Sanatan Dharma.’ Sharma stated that lord Ram has been considered a symbol of good and Ravan, a symbol of evil. In this context, the festival of Vijayadashami is celebrated every year. Saif, who plays the antagonist in the film had said that throughout the movie the “benevolent and humane side of Ravan will be projected.”

The court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate in Jaunpur has fixed December 23 as the next date of hearing in the case.
