Chhatra Federation holds rally demanding abolition of DSA

Bangladesh Chhatra Federation staged demonstrations and brought out procession in the capital on Saturday protesting the death of writer Mushtaq Ahmed at Kashimpur Jail and urged to abolish the Digital Security Act.

The leaders and activists of the organisation brought out the protest procession in front of Dhaka University’s TSC around 11am which paraded some important roads of Dhaka.

Later, they again gathered at TSC and held a rally.

Al Quaderi Joy, central president of the organisation, said, “We are protesting the custodial death of writer Mushtaq. Police charged batton on our peaceful procession on Friday and detained seven. Some of the activists were also injured in the attack. We are demanding immediate release of the detained men.”

Members of the organisaion informed their next movement to hold demonstration across the country and besiege the Home Ministry on March 1. They will also besiege the Prime Minister’s office on March 3.

Fifteen protesters of left-leaning student organizations were injured on Friday when police charged baton on them in city’s Shahbagh area, who were protesting against death of Mushtaq Ahmed in prison.
