Complaint against Fakhrul, Rizvi at Paltan Police Station

A leader of the Dhaka City Awami League has made a written complaint against BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi with the city’s Paltan Police Station.

In his complaint, Md Riazuddin, office secretary of Dhaka City South Awami League, has alleged that the BNP leaders including Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi have made “indecent and provocative remarks against the prime minister.”

The complaint was submitted on Thursday night.

Paltan Police Station’s officer-in-charge (OC) Mohammad Salauddin said decision would be taken consulting with senior police officials whether the complaint of Riazuddin will be recorded as a complaint or not.

On Friday afternoon, Abdul Ahad, deputy commissioner of Motijheel Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), said the complaint was sent to the DMP Headquarters seeking opinion whether the complaint would be turned into a case or not as it was a cyber-related issue. “We’ll be able to tell you whether it would be turned into a case after we receive a decision.”

Apart from the two BNP leaders, AL leader Riazuddin also accused the party leader Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, Chatra Dal president Kazi Raunaqul Islam Sraban, general secretary Saif Mahmud Jewel, Dhaka City South JCD convener Pavel Sikder, joint convener Golam Rabbani Robin, Dhaka City South BNP convener Abdus Salam, Dhaka City South BNP member secretary Rafiqul Alam Majnu and some unidentified persons.

Dhaka City South AL office secretary Md Riazuddin mentioned that the BNP leaders made “indecent and anti-state” remarks at the prime minister at different places including Jatiya Press Club on July 16 and 17 last at the directives of Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

Besides, they made indecent remarks against Dhaka City South AL president Abu Ahmed Monnafi. Their remarks were publicised through different websites, Facebook pages and YouTube.
