Container transport at Ctg port halted following workers’ work abstention

The export-laden containers are not being taken to Chattogram port following work abstention of the workers.

 

Prime mover-trailers workers union are observing the strike from 6am on Saturday.
Container transport between Chattogram port and 18 container depots remained suspended due to the work stoppage.
Abu Bakr Siddiqi, general secretary of the organisation, said a transport company earlier sacked 36 workers without any specific reason. The strike was called protesting the sack and demanding the appointment letters of the workers.

Ctg port secretary Omar Farruque said due to the strike, no export-laden container enter the port or leave the port.
