Coronavirus cases can spike in summer; PM issues 3 directives

Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam told reporters while briefing at the secretariat after the meeting.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina joined the meeting virtually from her official residence, Ganabhaban while her cabinet colleagues were connected from the secretariat through virtual media.
“The prime minister mentioned that the rate of virus infection had increased in last summer. So, we can’t say surely that this year it won’t happen. Experts also laid importance to keep an eye on the months of April, May and June.”
The Commerce Ministry informed the meeting that the country has sufficient stockpile of these essential commodities against the possible demand in the holy month, he said.
The Cabinet gave the final approval to the drafts of two bills titled “Bangladesh Shishu Hospital and Institute Bill, 2021” and “Kurigram Agricultural University Bill, 2021,” while approved in principle the drafts of the two other bills titled “Public Debt Bill, 2021,” and “Payment and Settlement Systems Bill, 2021,” said the Cabinet Secretary.
