COVID-19: 1,476 fresh cases, 31 deaths reported

Bangladesh on Sunday reported 1,476 more cases and 31 deaths from coronavirus in last 24 hours.
With the new figures, the total number COVID-19 cases now stands at 3,37,520 and deaths at 4,733.
Currently, there are 92,144 active cases in the country.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the matter through a press release signed by Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General of DGHS, on Sunday afternoon.
In the last 24 hours, 94 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country collected 12,850 samples and tested 12,999.
Till now, a total of 17,28,480 samples were tested in the country.
Meanwhile, 2,372 more people made recovery from the deadly virus in a day, taking the total recovery counts to 2,40,643.
Among the newly deceased, 25 were men and the rest six women where 28 died at different hospital of the country and three at their respective homes.
Of them, 18 of them were from Dhaka, five from Chattogram, two from Rajshahi, Sylhet and Rangpur each, and one from Khulna and Mymensingh divisions each.
The latest day’s infection rate is 11,35per cent, compared to the sample tested, while the overall infection rate is 19.53.
On the other hand, the recovery rate is 71.30 per cent and the mortality rate is 1.40 per cent.
As of today, a total of 3,686 men (77.88 per cent) and 1,047  women (22.12 per cent) died from COVID-19 in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus cases on March 8 and the first death on March 18.

According to Worldometer’s COVID-19 data, the deadly virus has killed  9,24,915 people globally and infected 2,89,62,954  as of Sunday afternoon.
