After Deepika Padukone recorded her statement with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in alleged drug case that’s being investigated post Sushant Singh Rajput’s demise, speculations have been rife that several A-listers are next on the radar. More recently, reports claiming names of top actors with initials ‘A’, ‘R’ and ‘S’ have been doing the rounds on the internet. It’s been alleged that the agency is soon going to issue summons to the actors hinted with the above initials.

However, an NCB official has rubbished any such development in the alleged drugs case. Responding to reports of ‘Deepika Padukone’s co-stars’ being summoned for interrogation, an official called out the portals for carrying ‘false’ reports.

“Do you want me to comment on false stories some of the media is reporting?”, retorted an NCB official when asked about ‘superstars’ being apparently summoned, by ETimes. As quoted by the portal, the official is a senior member from NCB’s SIT team who has been handling the alleged drug case since the beginning. He also a part of the team that questioned Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan and Shraddha Kapoor, last weekend.

For the uninitiated, Deepika, Sara and Shraddha’s names cropped up in the alleged drug case after a few WhatsApp chats, pertaining to drugs, were accessed by NCB.  According to a report in ETimes, Deepika, in her statement to NCB, had said that they used the word ‘maal’ for low-quality cigarettes, hash and weed for slim and better quality cigarettes, and doob for thick ones, referring to the 2017 WhatsApp chats.

An NCB official was quoted saying, “We were satisfied as both corroborated the codes,” while talking about Deepika and her manager Karishma. However, the agency has debunked reports of giving ‘clean chit’ to Deepika, Karishma or anyone else who have been summoned in the case so far.

The NCB had seized the phones of Deepika, Sara and Shraddha for further investigation.
