Double-track railway a must to bring train schedule discipline: Sujan

Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan on Sunday said bringing discipline in train schedule without double-track railway is not possible.

The minister made the comment while visiting the Kamalapur Railway Station in the morning to mark the Bangladesh Railway Service and Safety Week.

During his visit, Nurul Islam Sujan talked with passengers and listened to their complaints, including platform distance, porters’ misbehave and hike of charges for use of trolleys.

Train boarding and landing from the platform is an obstacle to passengers, especially children and elders, for down height platform, said one of the passengers.

The minister assured that high platform to be built at every station to boost railway services.

Sujan said he noticed passengers’ unwillingness for maintaining health guidelines at station and trains.
