In the wake of widespread protests over death of writer Mushtaq Ahmed in the prison, the government is now taking steps to stop misuse of Digital Security Act (DSA).

“Before an investigation, none can be arrested or sued under the act soon after any allegation comes… the government is taking measures in this regard,” Law Minister Anisul Huq told BBC Bangla  on Monday.

A debate has been created again over the act after the custodial death of Mushtaq Ahmed. The writer,  arrested under the act, died in Kashimpur High-Security Jail in Gazipur on Thursday.
“We’ve said no cases will be filed directly. If any allegation is made, police will investigate first and then take the case accordingly,” he added.
