Erling Haaland reached another incredible milestone following Manchester City’s 3-0 victory against Bayern Munich in their Champions League quarter-final, first leg on Tuesday.

Haaland, who scored City’s third goal of the night in the 76th minute, has 45 goals in all competitions, a single-season record for a Premier League player, moving ahead of Mohamed Salah (2017/18) and Ruud van Nistelrooy (2002/03).

The forward tapped home our third on a memorable night at the Etihad, with further goals from Rodrigo and Bernardo Silva handing Pep Guardiola’s men a crucial advantage ahead of our trip to Bavaria.

It was the Norwegian’s 45th strike of the season in all competitions, meaning he has now become the highest-scoring player for a Premier League team across a single campaign.

The record had previously been shared by Ruud van Nistelrooy (2002/03) and Mohamed Salah (2017/18).

Interestingly, both van Nistelrooy and Salah shared identical records at the end of their impressive individual campaigns, with their 44 strikes in all competitions coming in 52 appearances.

In short, the duo found the net at a rate of just under 0.85 per match across their respective campaigns, with both hitting double figures in the Premier League and Champions League.

Haaland, on the other hand, has broken that record in just 39 appearances; translating to an astonishing average of 1.15 goals whenever he’s featured for City.

Only in the Carabao Cup and the Community Shield has the Norwegian scored fewer goals than he’s played games, having found the net 30 times in 27 Premier League appearances, 11 times in 7 Champions League matches and three times in two FA Cup matches.
