Hollywood actor Brad Pitt sues ex-wife and Eternals star Angelina Jolie, here’s why

Hollywood powerhouse actors Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s romance had been the talk of the town in its heydays. He was married to American sweetheart and Friends‘ star Jennifer Anniston and she was the other woman who swept in and took away Pitt.

The two had a happy marriage, but that too was not meant to last. The pair met on the set of Mr & Mrs Smith in 2004 and the couple got married ten years later after having kids. But two years later it was over.

In September 2016, Angelina filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. And now, Pitt has sued his ex-wife for selling her stake in a French winery they bought together when they got married. She sold her stake to a Russian businessman.

According to a report by The Guardian, in a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles on Thursday, Pitt said Jolie broke their agreement not to sell their interest in Château Miraval without the other’s consent. Jolie sold her stake to a unit of Stoli Group, a spirits maker controlled by oligarch Yuri Shefler.

The actor said he had poured money and sweat into making Miraval one of the world’s most highly regarded makers of rose wine and that Jolie was seeking “unearned windfall profits” from his work, while inflicting “gratuitous harm”.

The report added that lawyers of Jolie did not immediately respond to requests for comments.

The report cited the lawsuit where it is mentioned that Jolie told Pitt in January 2021 that she had reached a painful decision to sell her Miraval stake as she could no longer own an alcohol business because of her personal objections. However, buyout talks between the two stars broke down.
