Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury today proposed offering employment to 100 individuals injured during the July uprising.

“This initiative aims to support those injured by providing them with a means to sustain themselves financially. While we cannot assist everyone, proposals have been submitted, and we are advising that jobs be arranged wherever possible for those affected,” the adviser told reporters.

He made the remarks while inspecting the Special Branch (SB) and Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters.

Addressing concerns about money laundering during the previous administration, the adviser said, “The biggest issue with the previous government was money laundering. They were the primary culprits.”

On the current government’s measures to combat money laundering, he said, “I have emphasised the need for swift action to address this issue.”

Regarding traffic congestion, the adviser proposed involving 1,000 students in traffic control tasks with a minimum stipend. “Initially, we aimed to involve 500 people, but we could not find enough participants,” he added.

Reflecting on progress made over the last five months, he said, “You can judge for yourselves whether there has been any improvement. The police are working to familiarise themselves with the roads, but they are facing some challenges with vehicles. We are treating this matter as a priority.”

Commenting on reports of people fleeing after August 5, he said, “Between August 5 and 6, there was no government in place. Many fled during that time, even crossing into neighbouring countries. We were not in power at that moment. If anyone flees later, we will investigate.”
