Husband grilled in Kalabagan doctor murder case

Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has interrogated the husband of Dr Kazi Sabira Rahman who was found murdered at a flat at Kalabagan area in the capital.
The PBI interrogated Sabira Rahman’s husband AKM Shamsuddin Azad.
Following a three-day remand, the 65-year-old Shamsuddin Azad was produced before the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court on Saturday.
Later, the court ordered to send him to jail.
On May 31 last year, police recovered the body of Dr Sabira from a rented flat on the third floor of a building at Kalabagan.
Dr Sabira worked at the radiology department of the capital’s Green Life Hospital.
Later, Sabira’s brother filed a murder case with Kalabagan Police Station accusing some unidentified persons.
Shamsuddin Azad was arrested on Tuesday last. On the following day, the CMM court allowed police to question him under remand.
Investigation Officer of the case and PBI inspector Mohammad Jewel Mia said husband Shamsuddin Azad was questioned in Dr Sabira murder. “We are examining the information provided by him.”
In a report submitted to the court, the PBI said Shamsuddin Azad concealed some vital information during questioning. He married two more women before marrying Sabira. But, he concealed one marriage to Sabira. It led to conflict between the husband and wife.
