Ishaa Saha to play Tollywood’s latest detective in upcoming series

A new investigator is set to mark in Tollywood, and this time, it’s a woman determined to uncover the truth. Tollywood actress Ishaa Saha is hence stepping into the role of a female detective in an upcoming web-series titled “BB Bakshi”, directed by Joydeep Mukherjee.

Much like Byomkesh Bakshi, she will face every obstacle in her path in the series scripted by Paramita Munshi. The character BB Bakshi has already generated excitement, as reported by Indian media outlet Sangbad Pratidin.

Tollywood has seen a variety of iconic detectives over the years. From Feluda and Byomkesh Bakshi to Kakababu, Eken Babu, and Gora, these characters have left a lasting impression on audiences. Yet, there’s been a noticeable absence of female detectives.

Although actresses like Koyel Mallick as “Mitin Masi” and Tuhina Das as “Damayanti” have previously brought female detective characters to life on screen, BB Bakshi, whose full name is Binodabala Bakshi, is set to fill this gap. She’ll be depicted as a police constable from a small, rural village.

Like many young women in her village, Binodabala marries at a young age. The series opens with her wedding. Binodabala is both gentle and empathetic, yet she’s also a firm, no-nonsense police officer. Her inquisitive nature compels her to dig deep into mysteries and uncover the truth at any cost.

Director Joydeep Mukherjee is confident that BB Bakshi’s distinct character traits will speak volumes to audiences. The plot is expected to focus on issues such as rural politics and gender disparity.

The script is likely to be finalised by the end of this month, and, if all goes as planned, filming will commence in December. Most of the shooting locations are anticipated to be in rural settings.
