Israel approves plan to double settlers in occupied Golan

The Israeli government on Sunday approved a plan that aims to double the number of Jewish settlers in the occupied Golan Heights, the prime minister’s office said.

Cabinet endorsed the more than $300 million plan at in a meeting at the Mevo Hama community in the Golan, a territory captured from Syria and which Israel annexed in 1981, a move not recognised by most of the international community.
