  • Shahid Kapoor is all set to star in the Hindi remake of Jersey
  • The original film had Nani playing the lead role
  • Recently, Nani shared that he feels Shahid will do better than him in the remake

Over the years, Shahid Kapoor has established himself as a brilliant actor and has been leaving the critics and the audiences impressed with his projects. Next, Shahid will be seen in the Hindi remake of the Telugu film Jersey, in which, he will be seen as a cricketer. The original had South actor Nani playing the lead role. The Hindi remake of the film is ready and post-production work is under-process and Jersey will hit the cinemas soon.

Recently, in an interview, Nani spoke in length about the Hindi remake of his film and was all praise for Shahid. The actor feels that Shahid will outdo him in the remake. The original film was directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri and he is also helming the Hindi remake. The film is based on the story of a former cricket player who wants to get back to the game to inspire his son and gift him a jersey.

While interacting with Pinkvilla, Nani talked about Shahid and said, “I think he will do it better. He is a brilliant performer and can really get into the skin of the character.” Talking about the Hindi remake, the actor stated, “Gowtam showed me a few pictures – the director of the original, and it looks very promising. Gowtam is somebody who is a man of very few words, even if he likes something – I know it but not everyone can say it – I can see it on his face when he likes something. He doesn’t say much, but when Gowtam told me how happy he was with the output of the Hindi version, I already can imagine how brilliantly it would have come out.”

In March 2021, Nani-starrer Jersey won two awards at the 67th National Film Awards, and Shahid wished the team. He took to Twitter and wrote, “Huge congratulations to the entire team. Thanks for the extra pressure @gowtam19 @NameisNani @ShraddhaSrinath @anirudhofficial #SanuJohnVarughese @vamsi84 @PIB_India”
