Journalist Abul Bashar Nuru taken to village home for burial

Daily Amader Shomoy Chief Reporter Abul Bashar Nuru’s namaj-e-janaza was held at Jatiya Press Club premises in Dhaka on Friday.

His namaj-e-janaza was held at Jatiya Press Club’s tennis ground at about 5:25pm. Earlier at about 5:10pm, his bpdy was brought at the Jatiya Press Club premises.

Prior to his namaj-e-janaza, Jatiya Press Club president Farida Yasmin said, “Abul Bashar Nuru had been involved in journalism for a long time. He was dedicated to reporting. We pray for his departed soul to almighty Allah.”

Jatiya Press Club general secretary Ilyas Khan said, “Nuru was a very simple and humble person. The journalist community will certainly feel a vacuum with his death. We pray for his departed soul and convey our deep sympathy to the bereaved family.”

Following the namaj-e-janaza, Nuru’s body was taken to his village home in Faridpur for burial at his family graveyard.

Family sources said Nuru fell very sick when he started feeling breathing problems at his Dakkhin Khan residence at about 10:00am on Friday. At that time, his family members rushed him to Uttara’s Lubna General Hospital where an on-duty doctor pronounced him as dead.

He was 53.

Nuru also served as Publicity and Publication Secretary of Dhaka Reporters Unity earlier.

He worked in different newspapers including Bangla Bazar Patrika, Amader Shomoy, Amader Orthonity, Sangbad Sarabela and Amader Natun Shomoy.

He also suffered breathing complications earlier and was admitted to the ICU of Lubna General Hospital earlier. However, he returned home few days after recovery from illness.
