JS body for preparing list of 518 archeological sites

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Cultural Affairs today recommended preparing a complete list of 518 protected archeological sites and present it at the next meeting.
The parliamentary watchdog came up with the aforesaid recommendation at its 20th meeting held at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban with Committee Chairman Simeen Hussain (Rimi) in the chair, a press release said here.

They recommended preparing a complete list of 518 protected archeological sites as well as present them at the next meeting and taking necessary steps to preserve the building of Natmandir and the area adjacent to the building as archeological sites by relocating the Rajbari DC
office, the release added.

Committee members – State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid, Kazi Keramat Ali, Ashim Kumar Ukil, Suborna Mustafa and Salina Islam took part in the meeting.

They also informed the meeting that necessary plans have been made to implement site-maintenance and repair-activities of 18 archeological sites under the revenue budget for the financial year 2021-2022.
