JU professor found dead at Uttara flat

Teacher-columnist Professor Dr Tareque Shamsur Rehman was found dead inside his flat at Uttara in the capital on Saturday.
Receiving information that Tareque Shamsur Rehman was not opening the doors of his flat, Turag police went there and broke the door open of the flat at noon and recovered the body.
He was a teacher of International Relations Department at Jahangirnagar University (JU).
Professor Shafiqur Rahman of the Urban and Regional Planning Department of JU, who is also an inhabitant of the same building, confirmed the matter to the media.
Tareque Shamsur Rehman’s body was found lying in front of the bathroom where he vomited, said police.
Police recovered the body and then took it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for postmortem.
Md Shahidullah, deputy commissioner (DC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s (DMP) Uttara Division, said his domestic help went to the house this morning and found the door locked.
Dr Tareque Shamsur Rehman took Iftar at his flat last evening. Everyone of his family lives abroad, the official added.
