Khagrachhari gang rape case: 6 accused confess to crime

Six accused, out of seven, in the Khagrachhari indigenous woman gang rape case have given their confessional statement at a court.

Khagrachhari Senior Judicial Magistrate Morshedul Alam recorded their statements from 3pm to 8:45pm on Sunday under section 164 of the CrPC.

Khagrachhari Police Station OC Mohammad Rashid confirmed the matter.

He also informed that police filed a petition seeking seven days’ remand for Nurul Amin, the prime accused in the case. The court fixed September 30 to hear the petition, he added.

A gang of robbers swooped on a house in Balpaiya Adam area of the district town early Thursday.

They raped a woman after tying up her parents and robbed gold ornaments and mobile cell phones from the victim’s house.

Victim’s mother, later, filed two cases accusing nine people over the matter on Thursday.

Police have arrested seven people in this connection after conducting drives in Sadar, Ramgarh and Guimara of the district and different areas of Chattogram.
