Khaleda gets second dose of Covid vaccine

BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has been given the second dose of Covid-19 vaccine.
She was injected the vaccine dose at Sheikh Russel Gastroliver Institute and Hospital in the capital on Wednesday afternoon.
It was confirmed Shyrul Kabir, member of the Press Wing of BNP Chairperson.
Kabir said the former prime minister and BNP chief was given the Covid-19 vaccine dose at Sheikh Russel Gastroliver Institute and Hospital.
Earlier on Tuesday, Khaleda Zia’s personal secretary ABM Abdus Sattar sent a letter to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) commissioner seeking overall security for Begum Khaleda Zia during her arrival at Gastroliver Institute and Hospital from her Gulshan residence and departure from the hospital.
A copy of the letter was sent to the director of the Gastroliver Institute and Hospital.
Earlier in the afternoon on July 19, Khaleda Zia received the first dose of Moderna vaccine at the hospital. On that day, the law enforcing agencies provided her the overall security to and from her residence to the hospital.
The BNP Chairperson registered for Covid-19 vaccine on ‘surokkha’ website on July 9 last. After nine day, an SMS was sent to her requesting to take the first dose of vaccine.
Begum Khaleda Zia tested Covid-19 positive on April 14 last. First, she took treatment staying at home. Then on April 27, she was admitted to Evercare Hospital after she showed various physical complications.
On May 9 last, the BNP chief tested Covid-19 negative. In spite of it, she had to stay at the hospital for about one and a half months due to various physical complications.
A 10-member medical board led by Prof Dr Shahabuddin Talukder supervised her treatment at the hospital. She was also kept at the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) for several days due to her breathing complications.
Begum Khaleda Zia returned to her Gulshan residence ‘Firoza’ at night on June 19 last after 52 days of treatment at the hospital. Since then she has been taking treatment staying at home.
The BNP Chairperson who was given 17 years’ jail sentences in two corruption cases was released on conditional bail on March 25 last year. Since then the tenure of her bail was extended thrice.
