‘Khaleda’s treatment to continue as before for time being’

The treatment procedure of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will continue as before for the time being, said Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Director Brigadier General Abdullah Al Harun.

He said the five-member medical board has visited Khaleda Zia’s cabin this morning and examined all medical documents. “They will fix the next course of action later. And treatment will continue as before for the time being.”

The five-member fresh medical board, headed by Dr Abdul Jalil Chowdhury, a professor of medicine department, went to the cabin of the BNP chief on the 5th floor of Cabin Block at 11:30 am today.

Khaleda Zia was admitted to the BSMMU on Saturday afternoon soon after she was shifted there from old Dhaka Central jail for better treatment.

On Thursday, the High Court directed the government to admit Khaleda Zia to the BSMMU and form a five-member fresh medical board for her treatment.

Khaleda Zia was in the erstwhile Dhaka Central Jail at Nazimuddin Road since she was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case on February 8.
