Killer wanted to leave country after Tipu murder: DB

An alleged professional killer involved in the brutal killing of an Awami League politician and a female college student at North Shahjahanpur area has been arrested from Bogura district.
Md Akash alias Masum, 34, admitted to have shot and killed AL politician Zahidul Islam Tipu, who was on board a microbus, and Samia Afrin Pritee, a 22-year-old college, whose rickshaw was stuck in a traffic jam on Thursday night.
Being tipped off, a team of Khilgaon Zonal team of the Detective Branch (DB), arrested Akash in cooperation with Bogura district police on Saturday, said Hafiz Akhter, Additional Commissioner of the Detective Branch (DB), while addressing a press conference in the capital on Sunday (March 27).
“Masum is mainly a professional killer. He attempted to leave the country through border after killing Tipu and Preeti. After completing his mission on Thursday night, he left Dhaka for Joypurhat. He was willing to cross the border. But, being failed to do that, he went Bogura on the following day. Awami League leader Zahidul Islam Tipu murder was a ‘contract killing,” he said.
