Legendary singer Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan passes away

One of the most respected singers of the country Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan breathed his last today (January 17)

He taught music to veterans such as Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Manna Dey, AR Rahman, Hariharan, Sonu Nigam among others

The legend was the proud recipient of the prestigious Padma Shri (1991), Padma Bhusan (2006) and the Padma Vibhushan (2018) awards

For the lovers of classical music, Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan is almost next to God. He was the legend who was behind teaching music to some of the greatest singers that the music industry has ever seen. In a rather unfortunate update, Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan passed away today at the age of 89. Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar took to Twitter to announce the news and express her heartfelt condolence.

Sharing a photo of Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan, Lata Mangeshkar, who had learned music and also worked closely with the deceased singer, posted a tweet.

The same could be read, “Mujhe abhi abhi ye dukhad khabar mili hai ki mahan shastriya gayak Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan Saheb is duniya mein nahi rahe. Ye sunke mujhe bahut dukh hua. Wo gayak to acche the hee par insaaan bhi bahut acche the.”

Singer Areeb Khan Niazi also took to Twitter and posted a tweet, informing everyone about the huge loss of the music industry.
