Loving wishes to Dilip Kumar on his 98th birthday

Indian cinema thespian Dilip Kumar, who has turned a year older, marks his special day in the company of his wife Saira Banu and other family members. But even though there are no birthday celebrations this year, the social media platforms are flooding with the warmest birthday wishes for the legendary cinema icon.

Apart from fans, who can’t help but shower the cinema thespian with love, wishes and blessings, many film industry members too have taken to social media to send out love-filled wishes.

Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn took to Twitter and penned a heartwarming note for the legendary icon. The actor called Kumar an “institution” in himself and shared that he’s always been his source of inspiration over the years.

“Happy birthday Yusuf Saab. You’re an institution by yourself. And, you’ve always been my steady source of inspiration over the years. Respects to you Sir today and always,” read Ajay’s elaborate note on social media.

Bollywood actress and Shiv Sena leader Urmila Matondkar also wrote a heartfelt birthday wish for Kumar, one of the last surviving stars from Indian cinema’s golden age. Apt describing what his many fans feel, Urmila wrote, “When all the words in the world fail to describe a human being, an Actor, an Era,a Legend,an Institution and all the joy, light n sheer magic he brought on celluloid each time he enlightened it. Happy Birthday #DilipKumar saab #HappyBirthdayDilipKumar.”

In his illustrious career, Kumar has been a part of many memorable films including Andaz, Babul, Deedar, Aan, Daag, Devdas, Azaad, Naya Daur, Yahudi, Madhumati, Kohinoor, Mughal-e-Azam (1960), Gunga Jamuna and Ram Aur Shyam. Often referred to as Bollywood’s ‘Tragedy King’, Kumar has inspired many in the industry and beyond with his rich work.
