Mask wearing mandatory in mosques, temples, churches, pagodas

Wearing masks has been made mandatory at religious institutions, including mosques, temples, churches, pagodas, and other religious institutions by the Ministry of Religious Affairs in a circular issued on Sunday.

According to the circular, the ministry has issued notices to ensure masks in institutions along with other measures to prevent the coronavirus infection. Recently, it has been noticed with deep concern that the use of masks is being relaxed all over the country, especially in mosques, temples, churches, and other religious institutions. The government has instructed to ensure that wearing masks has been made compulsory, including religious institutions.

The directive added that all worshipers in the mosque have to wear masks. The mosque committee must ensure it before the prayers every time, as well as displaying banners at the entrance of the mosques.

Followers of other religions, including Hinduism, Buddhism, and Christianity, must enter the shrine wearing masks. The concerned worship committee has to ensure that, said the circular.

A massive campaign should be launched to make the public particularly aware of the ‘No Mask, No Service’. The slogan should include posters or digital displays in all open spaces and public-private organizations, stated in the circular.

The Ministry of Ministry of Religious Affairs has requested the officials of the local administration, Islamic Foundation, Hindu Welfare Trust, Buddhist Religious Trust, Christian Religious Welfare Trust, and the managing committee of the concerned mosques to continue publicizing the above declaration regularly through a campaign in all mosques and another shrine in the country.
