Medical students block Shahbagh

Medical and dental students blockade the city’s Shahbagh intersection on Sunday to press home for their several demands including taking online classes.
Traffic in the area remained suspended from 11:30 am due to to the blockade.
The medical students under the banner ‘General students of MBBS and BDS Course’ have been demonstrating for last few days to press home their demands.
The demands include taking online classes in the coronavirus pandemic, curtailing tuition fees at private medical colleges (more than 60 months or 48 months under old curriculum) from the MBBS/BDS students, refraining from taking professional examinations considering the students’ safety and completion of courses in time to avoid session jam.
One of the demonstrators said that the authorities have also agreed that the demands are legitimate, but did not take any steps to solve these.
