Model Swarna put on one-day remand

A court in Dhaka on Tuesday placed actress and model Romana Islam Swarna on a one-day remand in a case filed for embezzling money from a Saudi expatriate businessman.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mamunur Rashid passed the order on Tuesday in response to a seven-day remand prayer filed by Investigation officer of the case and Mohammadpur police inspector Dulal Hossain.

Romana was arrested from Lalmatia area of Mohammadpur Police Station in the evening on March 11.

The accused model has embezzled around Tk 2 crore from the expatriate through marriage fraudulence. The victim lodged a case against Swarna with Mohammadpur Police Station in this regard.
