Monirul Islam, Asaduzzaman new president, general secretary of BPSA

Md Monirul Islam, Additional Inspector General of Special Branch and  Md Asaduzzaman, Deputy Commissioner (Motijheel), Detective Branch, have been elected Bangladesh Police Service Association (BPSA) president and general secretary respectively.

A 121-member committee of the BPSA was elected unopposed at the 41st annual general meeting of the association at Rajarbag Police Lines Auditorium in Dhaka on Saturday, said a press release of Police Headquarters.

Inspector General of Police Dr Benazir Ahmed, also the Chief Advisor of the association, was present at the event as the chief guest while DMP Commissioner Shafiqul Islam presided over the meeting.

Mosharraf Hossain, Additional Inspector General of APBN, acted as the chief election commissioner.

DIG AFM Masum Rabbani and DIG AYM Belalur Rahman acted as two other election commissioners.

The IGP said that the association was a vital organisation for the members of the police cadre service and it plays significant roles in solving professional problems.

Additional IGPs, heads of different units of Bangladesh Police and members of the association were present on the occasion.

All unit heads outside Dhaka were connected virtually, the press release said.
