President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have paid deep homage to the Father of the Nation by placing wreaths at his portrait in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi in the capital this morning.
After placing the wreaths, they stood in solemn silence for some time showing respect to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the 43rd anniversary of his martyrdom.
Private TV station NEWS24, a sister concern of the daily Kalerkantho, has confirmed the news.
Sheikh Hasina, also the President of Awami League, flanked by party’s General Secretary Obaidul Quader and senior leaders, placed wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu on behalf of the party, around 6:30am at Dhanmondi Road No. 32 in Dhaka.
The National Mourning Day is being observed across the country and abroad recalling the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
On the fateful night of August 15, 1975 is the ugliest chapter of the nation’s history because the self-confessed killers did not assassinate Bangabandhu alone, but also killed 16 other members of his family, friends and relatives.
