Movement of BNP heading for failure: Quader
GBNEWS24DESK//
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said the movement of BNP seems to be heading for failure as it is doing excesses in the name of movement.
He made the remark while addressing an international conference titled “4IR for Emerging Future” at the capital’s Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh, yesterday.
AL leaders and activists do not believe in fleeing the country like BNP leaders do, said Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister.
He praised the party members’ loyalty and said AL men would rather die or be imprisoned for the sake of the nation than flee the country.
The BNP leader has fled to London after signing a bond stating that he will no longer be in politics, said Quader, indirectly referring to BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman.
Mentioning that the incumbent government has transformed the country into “Digital Bangladesh”, the senior AL leader pledged to build a “Smart Bangladesh” in future.
Unlike the BNP, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina does not do politics of revenge, Quader said, adding that the PM suspended Khaleda Zia’s jail sentence and allowed her to stay at home on humanitarian grounds.
Besides, the warnings of revenge do not seem fit from those who committed the August 15 carnage, the August 21 grenade attack, and the November 3 incident (killings of four national leaders in jail ), he added.
Talking about the 50th Bangladesh Constitution Day observed yesterday, the AL leader said the day will be celebrated nationally from now on.
Regarding the global economic and political crises, Quader said, “Now is the time for us to talk less and do more.”
He urged everyone to work hard to address the crises.
