Muktijoddha Mancha demands ban on Al Jazeera

A section of Muktijoddha Mancha has demanded imposing ban on Al Jazeera broadcasting in Bangladesh for publishing a “false and defamatory” report on the Bangladesh government.
They made the demand at a human-chain formed at the base of Raju Memorial Sculpture on Dhaka University (DU) campus on Thursday.
They also burnt effigies of David Bergman and logo of Al Jazeera for publishing “baseless, false, fabricated and defamatory” documentary against the Prime Minister, the government and patriotic Army.
“The report titled ‘All the Prime Minister’s Men’ clearly spread false news about the Bangladesh government and the patriotic army. It is clearly politically motivated,” said AKM Jamal Uddin, spokesperson of the organisation.
He blamed the particular media for spreading propaganda about various incidents in Bangladesh since formation of government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina following landslide polls victory in 2009.
Demanding a ban on Al Jazeera and David Bergman in Bangladesh, he said, “If Al Jazeera doesn’t withdraw the report and apologize to the Prime Minister, the media should be banned.”
Al Jazeera, the Qatar-based international news channel, published a documentary titled “All the Prime Minister’s Men” on February 1.
